How do I get dried food off the floor without scratching it?

If you are confident in your ability with a knife, slowly and carefully apply the blade the very edges of the offending mess and pry it loose. Do not force it. If you have any doubts about your speed, slow down. Do not jab it. Slowly work at it until it comes off. You can also use a plastic putty knife or the clean edge of a plastic dust pan.  Apply hardwood floor cleaner to a slightly damp cloth and rub the spot. Dry the spot thoroughly.

There are scuff marks that came from our shoes. How do I get rid of those?

Try rubbing it with regular hardwood flooring cleaner that has been applied to a soft towel. If that doesn’t work, try using the flat plastic edge of a putty knife to gently scrape it away. Do not push too hard. If you have any questions, contact your authorized Wood Monsters reseller.

Nope, that’s permanent marker. Is there any hope?

Generally for stains caused by permanent markers the only hope you have is either to resand and refinish the plank if its solid hardwood or potentially replacing the plank if you have spares left over from your installation. If neither of these is feasible, you can try to cover it with a piece of furniture, add a painted design to that part of the floor or throw an area rug over it. If nothing else you could claim you were allowing creative experimenting to take place and enjoy the permanent reminder of a childhood memory.

I found mold and it is gross. What can I do to get rid of it?

Resist the urge to use bleach on your hardwood flooring as this can damage the wood and invalidate your warranty. Scrub it out with a towel and your recommended hardwood flooring cleaner. Make sure the room is well lit and remove any surface moisture you can locate. Regulate the humidity in your home with the help of a dehumidifier or other humidity control system. Keep an eye on the area for any reoccurring problems. Reoccurring issues can happen if the area if you’re not able to originally ascertain where the offending moisture was coming from.

There is crayon and gum stuck to the floor. Help!

Attempt to pry it off or gently scrape it with the plastic edge of a plastic putty knife or the clean smooth edge of a plastic dust pan. If you can’t get all of it off, put an ice cube directly on the crayon or gum and not on the surrounding flooring. It should make the wax or gum more brittle. Try prying it again and dry the floor immediately.

I was painting but it splattered and dried before I could get to it. How do I get it off?

Try peeling it back with the edge of a plastic putty knife. If that doesn’t easily come off (you should not have to push too hard), then using a Q-tip, blot the very top of it with a drop of rubbing alcohol. This should soften the paint and allow it to come off easily at that point. If that does not work, dry the spot immediately and contact your local authorized Wood Monsters reseller location for assistance.
